Vice Chancellor Order Governance Structure of Aligarh Muslim University
Aligarh Muslim University’s governance is anchored by the University Court as the supreme governing body, with the Executive Council as the principal executive body and the Academic Council as the principal academic body under the Vice-Chancellor’s leadership. The Visitor (President of India) sits at the top of the structure, with the Chancellor and Pro‑Chancellor as ceremonial heads and the Finance Committee, Faculties, and key officers forming core operational layers.
Governance overview
AMU’s authorities explicitly include the Court, Executive Council, Academic Council, Finance Committee, and Faculties, as set out in the AMU Act and reflected on the University’s leadership pages. The Visitor is the President of India, while the Chancellor, Pro‑Chancellor, and Vice‑Chancellor feature as officers alongside Pro‑Vice‑Chancellor, Registrar, Finance Officer, and other designated roles.
